Chemex coffee is a brew method that yields a very smooth cup of coffee with no extreme flavor notes or aftertastes. For those looking for a mellow yet strong cup, this style is ideal.
There's no wrong way to enjoy your coffee. Try our recommended guide below, or freestyle on the water / coffee ratio until you find your personal preference (AKA the perfect cup).

Grind size: Coarse like kosher salt

Ratio:

44 grams of ground coffee (~2.93 tablespoons)

640 grams of water (~22.57 ounces)

Steps:

Suggested: Use a scale to measure water pours

  1. Zero out scale, then add 150 grams of water (~5.29 ounces)
  2. Stir grounds to saturate
  3. After 45 seconds have passed add water to reach 450 grams (~15.87 ounces)
  4. Then complete to 640 grams of water (22.57 ounces)
  5. Allow brew time of 4 mins
  6. Enjoy!

If you're not using a scale, use these instructions:

  1. Add ~5.29 ounces of water 
  2. Stir grounds to saturate
  3. After 45 seconds have passed, add another ~10.58 ounces of water
  4. Then complete by adding another ~6.7 ounces of water
  5. Allow brew time of 4 mins
  6. Enjoy!
