The Dark Roast Collection

We are thrilled to announce three new coffees since our founding! We’ve received a plethora of requests asking for a dark roast coffee and we’re now proud to present to you Dalat, Hanoi, and Saigon. After hours of experimentation, twelve different roast samples, and multiple rounds of taste tests, our Founder (and Head Roaster!) Sahra Nguyen perfected three unique new roast profiles for our hand-picked Vietnamese coffee beans. Inspired by three lively cities in Vietnam, the Dark Roast Collection boasts distinct flavors you won’t find in any other Vietnamese coffees available. The names of each bag are a nod to the special energy of iconic Vietnamese cities – bold, dynamic, and invigorating in their own ways.

OUR ROASTING JOURNEY

 

“When I first started roasting Vietnamese robusta beans in 2018, I was nervous about roasting them too dark. Since robusta naturally has a bolder profile than arabica with 60% less sugars and double the caffeine content, I developed a medium roast profile to introduce Vietnamese robusta in an approachable way. Since we launched, a lot has changed in the world of coffee, including an entire movement around robusta beans (of which we’re proud to be early champions). Expanding upon our mission, I’m excited to share our newest Dark Roast Collection of Vietnamese coffees. I experimented with 12 different roast styles before landing on the final three. I aimed to develop a dark profile that was bold, yet smooth; some of my tests came out too smokey, too flat, too oily. Eventually, I got the dark roasts to the perfect place. I hope it gives you the jolt you need to jumpstart your day!”

Our Hanoi roast is full of character & evocative of tradition, reflective of Vietnam’s capital. With 100% robusta, we developed a roast to amplify the natural boldness of the bean while celebrating a classic brew.

Dalat is a relaxed and tranquil city lined with lush emerald forests. Our Dalat roast is full of natural sweetness with 100% arabica – a rare coffee bean that comprises less than 10% of Vietnam’s total production.

Saigon (Arabica & Robusta Blend)

Bringing together the unique qualities of both robusta and arabica coffee beans, our Saigon roast is reflective of the most dynamic and progressive city in Vietnam. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and new energy.

hanoi (100% robusta)

Our Hanoi roast is full of character & evocative of tradition, reflective of Vietnam’s capital. With 100% robusta, we developed a roast to amplify the natural boldness of the bean while celebrating a classic brew.
